How to Pay Your Water Utility Management Bill Online

WUM uses Municipal Online Services for utility billing. If you only want to pay your latest bill, use Quick Pay. You do not have to register an account.

  1. Open the official Quick Pay page. Go to Water Utility Management Quick Pay.
  2. Enter your complete account number. The portal requires the account number, including all dashes. For example, the portal displays the format 06-5314001955-02. Use your own number from your statement.
  3. Select Find Bill. Confirm that the account and outstanding amount belong to your service address.
  4. Choose a payment method. The portal accepts credit or debit cards and eChecks. Check the fee before confirming.
  5. Submit the payment. Review the total, complete the payment authorization and save the transaction confirmation.
Payment fees: The customer portal publishes a $1.95 eCheck convenience fee and a credit-card processing fee of 3.65% or a $2.50 minimum. The portal’s final total should be checked before payment.

If you have received a service-suspension notice, contact Customer Care after paying to confirm whether further action is required. A payment confirmation does not necessarily mean service will be restored immediately.

WUM Customer Portal Login and Registration

Registering for the Customer Portal lets you view billing history, manage one or multiple utility accounts, enroll in eBilling, configure AutoPay and apply for new service.

  1. Open the official Municipal Online Services homepage.
  2. Select Customer Portal, then choose the sign-in or registration option.
  3. Create your account using the requested personal information.
  4. To link your utility account, enter your 14-digit account number and the amount of your last payment, as requested for verification.
  5. If you have never paid WUM before, enter 0.00 as the previous payment amount.
  6. Complete the verification and access your account dashboard.

Cannot Find Your Account Number?

Email CustomerCare@waterga.com using the subject line New Account Number Request. Include the name shown on your account and the service address. Do not email card details or your portal password.

Forgot Your Login Details?

Use the sign-in page’s account recovery option. If the login works but the utility account will not link, verify the account number and previous payment amount with Customer Care before trying repeatedly.

Water Utility Management Payment Methods and Fees

Paying online is not your only option. WUM accepts payments through its automated telephone system, the Savannah office, a drive-thru, a drop box, mail and automatic bank drafts.

Method How It Works Fee or Consideration
Quick Pay Pay from the official portal without logging in. Card or eCheck processing fee.
Credit/Debit Card Use the Customer Portal or automated phone payment system. 3.65%; portal lists $2.50 minimum.
eCheck Use the online portal. $1.95 per transaction.
ACH Bank Draft Submit WUM’s bank-draft authorization form. No fee for the authorized ACH draft method.
Telephone Call 912-352-9339 and select the payment option. Card processing fee applies.
Office / Drive-Thru 28 Abercorn Street, Savannah. Check current accepted methods before visiting.
Mail Send a check or money order with the bill stub. Allow mailing and processing time.
Drop Box Located near the customer entrance at the Savannah office. Include identifying account information.

Mail Your Utility Payment

Make your check or money order payable to Water Utility Management. Include your bill stub and mail it to:

Water Utility Management
P.O. Box 1526
Savannah, GA 31402

Do not confuse the payment mailing address with the customer service office at 28 Abercorn Street.

Trying to avoid payment fees? WUM’s paper ACH bank-draft arrangement does not have a processing fee. The portal’s eCheck option is different and carries a $1.95 transaction charge.

How to Set Up AutoPay and Paperless Billing

Enroll in Automatic Payments

  1. Sign in to the Customer Portal.
  2. Find Enroll in auto pay near the top of the page.
  3. Select Enroll beside your utility account.
  4. Save your preferred payment method.
  5. Choose Enroll now and keep the confirmation.

WUM states that automatic drafts are scheduled on the bill’s due date. Autodraft enrollment must be established at least 72 hours before that due date. Confirm that the first scheduled payment is active rather than assuming enrollment covers an already-due bill.

Switch to eBilling

  1. Log in to the same Customer Portal.
  2. Open Contact Preferences.
  3. Select Enroll in Paperless Billing.
  4. Enter and confirm your email address.
  5. Check your inbox during the next billing cycle.
Paper statement fee: The portal currently announces a $3 fee for mailed paper bills. Paperless billing can help avoid that charge. Check whether your account is already enrolled before changing preferences.

How Often Does Water Utility Management Send Bills?

WUM bills approximately every 60 days, rather than every calendar month. Customers usually receive around six statements annually. Billing and collection dates can shift slightly around workweeks.

The exact due date and suspension date appear on your statement. Use those account-specific dates instead of assuming every customer’s bill follows the same calendar.

Published Billing and Account Fees

ChargePublished Amount
New account establishment$50
Late payment$15
Suspension fee$60
Meter installation fee$410
Credit card payment3.65%, with portal minimum stated as $2.50
Online eCheck$1.95
Paper bill$3 per mailed statement, according to portal notice

A water or sewer connection fee for a previously unserved property depends on its location. The $410 meter fee does not necessarily represent the full cost of establishing a brand-new connection.

For the complete rules, use WUM’s official Policies and Procedures.

Starting or Transferring Water Service in Georgia

Water Utility Management serves specific neighborhoods and utility systems, not every Georgia address. Check service availability before filling out an application or paying a deposit.

  1. Confirm your service address. Open WUM’s interactive service map. Search your property address and check whether it falls within a shaded service area.
  2. Open the application page. Visit Apply for Service and select the online Customer Portal application.
  3. Prepare your documents. WUM requests a photo ID matching the applicant and proof of residency. Submit complete, readable documents.
  4. Submit the application. Use the online process. If unavailable, WUM permits its paper application and supporting documents to be sent by email, fax, mail or in person.
  5. Allow processing time. WUM asks for two business days to review applications and establish an account.
  6. Pay your required fees. After approval, WUM provides an account number. You normally have up to three business days to submit the required payment.
  7. Confirm service activation. WUM states that service begins within one business day after receiving the required payment, subject to the account and location requirements.
Moving between WUM properties? Complete a new service application and identify your previous service location. Service does not simply transfer to another address because both properties use WUM.

New Customer Deposits

WUM’s application page lists a $50 establishment fee for applicants and these deposit categories:

  • Tenant: $150 refundable deposit.
  • Homebuilder: $200 deposit, refundable upon sale of the home.
  • Property owner: $150 deposit when required because of a history of delinquency.

New construction may require additional meter, water connection or sewer connection charges. Confirm the actual account total before making payment.

What to Do if Your Water Is Shut Off

Do not rely on making a payment alone when the account is already suspended. Follow this process:

  1. Call 912-352-9339 during office hours.
  2. Ask for the current account balance, suspension fee and any additional amount required.
  3. Confirm which payment method is acceptable for restoration.
  4. Pay the required amount through an authorized channel.
  5. Keep the payment confirmation and ask Customer Care about the restoration process.

WUM lists a $15 late fee and a $60 suspension fee under its published policies. A disconnection for nonpayment is not treated as an after-hours utility emergency, so do not assume the emergency answering service can arrange immediate restoration.

Report Water Outages or Check Your Service Area

WUM’s service map shows the locations of its managed utility systems and provides status indicators for normal operation, reported service issues and service interruptions.

  1. Open WUM’s Interactive Map.
  2. Enter the address of the property.
  3. Select the shaded service area where the property is located.
  4. Review the available system status, operating permits and Consumer Confidence Report documents.
  5. If you have no water or notice a possible system leak without a posted update, call Customer Care.

For after-hours water service issues or outages, call 912-352-9339. Calls outside regular office hours are forwarded to an answering service.

Leak responsibility matters: WUM’s policy generally assigns the utility responsibility for its water lines up to the meter box, while leaks between the meter box and the home are the customer’s responsibility. Report uncertain leaks rather than opening or adjusting utility equipment yourself.

Unexpectedly High Water Bill? Check Leak Relief Eligibility

Water Utility Management has a Leak Bill Relief Program for eligible customers who experience unusually high water charges caused by a verified, repaired leak.

The program currently provides these terms:

  • Voluntary participation costing $2 per month, or $4 per typical two-month billing cycle.
  • One eligible leak relief request in a 12-month period.
  • A maximum billing credit of up to $5,000 in 12 months.
  • Documentation showing the leak was repaired, such as a plumber’s receipt or proof of replacement parts.
  • Credits apply to qualifying excess water usage charges, not plumbing repairs or property damage.

How to Request a Water Bill Adjustment

  1. Identify and repair the leak as quickly as possible.
  2. Keep receipts and evidence of the completed repair.
  3. Review the eligibility rules at WUM Leak Bill Relief.
  4. Download and complete the leak adjustment application provided there.
  5. Send the application with repair evidence to CustomerCare@waterga.com, or use the fax, mail or in-person instructions on the official page.
  6. Ask Customer Care to confirm receipt and review the adjusted statement if your claim is approved.
About the $4 charge: WUM introduced the program charge beginning August 2025. Customers who do not want to participate can request to opt out at leakoptout@waterga.com. Include the account holder’s name, account number, service address and contact phone number. Rejoining later involves a waiting period.
