Fixing Common Water Bill and Service Problems
Payment Is Not Showing in Your Account
First review Payment History in the online portal. Match the payment date, amount and confirmation number. If the transaction is missing or the account still shows past due, call 972-237-8200. Avoid paying twice until the first transaction has been checked.
Unexpectedly High Water Usage
Grand Prairie offers H2Know Digital Water Meter, which helps customers check daily water usage and receive unusual-use or possible leak alerts.
- Visit the city’s H2Know information page.
- Register or access your water usage account.
- Compare normal daily consumption with the unusually high period.
- Check toilets, outdoor faucets, irrigation equipment and underground leaks.
- Repair confirmed leaks and retain repair documents.
- Review the official leak-adjustment request instructions if eligible.
The city requires a leak to be repaired before a leak adjustment can be considered. It also instructs applicants to register for H2Know and activate leak alerts.
Water Leak or Sewer Blockage
For water leaks or sewer issues during business hours, use the city’s water-service issue reporting page. For an urgent after-hours leak or sewer blockage, call 972-237-8400.
Give the exact address, nearest cross street, when the problem began and whether it affects your home, yard, street or nearby properties. Avoid contact with sewage and do not operate city-owned valves or meters.
